Hunter Proud Foundation Mission Statement.
The Hunter Proud Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable public foundation whose principal aim is to recognize and promote conservation through utilization as well as the rights of the hunter through the use of the media, in particular video.
For far too long most hunters have almost been embarrassed to admit that they hunt. The hunter needs to know that he is in fact the conservationist and should be proud of it. The role of hunting in wildlife conservation goes largely unnoticed and is certainly downplayed by anti-hunters. If it were not for hunting, a large proportion of wilderness areas across the globe would simply not exist. Hunters pay more for wildlife conservation than everyone else combined and are more often vilified than recognized for their important role.
The purpose of the foundation is to use the non-taxable donated funds as a revenue source to produce video productions that promote the positive effect hunters have on wildlife conservation through managed sustainable consumptive utilization of the game animal resource, creating an economic powerhouse through trophy fees, hunting license fees, stamp tags, permits, concession fees, education, food for local villages, village improvements, employment along with a myriad of other economic ripple effects.
The video productions are also used in specific projects such as lion, elephant, etc. These high quality informational and educational DVD's are distributed to the public, experts, lobbyists, politicians, cable and television networks and governments around the world through various sources.
These video productions are also used in places such as:
- At conventions such as CITIES.
- At Safari Club International local chapter meetings.
- As lobbying tools to the US Congress.
- As lobbying tools to other governments
- By the average hunter, defending his right to hunt.
- On websites across cyberspace.
The idea is to encourage hunters to talk to non-hunters and even anti-hunters about why they hunt and the positive benefits that hunting has on wildlife conservation worldwide. Using the Hunter Proud productions they are able to engage non-hunters with confidence, armed with all of the relevant information.
For example, a hunter could show the importance of the Campfire program in elephant management to a non-hunter, a point of view that the non-hunter would probably had never been presented with before.
As hunters we need to actively engage non-hunters wherever and whenever possible. Let them know how important hunting is to the conservation of our wildlife heritage across the world.
Our mission statement is absolutely clear: Hunter: Proud!
